JONATHAN SURLS WINS $1,000 GA. DEPT. SCHOLARSHIP
Jonathan Surls, grandson of 307 member Bill Surls, is one of 8 High School graduates in the State of Georgia to win a $1,000 scholarship from Dept. of GA. Jonathan is a recent honor graduate from Brookwood High School in Lawrenceville. While at Brookwood
he achieved a 3.95 grade point average, received an Academic Letter and the AP Calculus award .
He was also named an Outstanding Senior and Scholar Athlete. Jonathan was a member of the Region Champions
Brookwood Varsity Tennis team serving as captain his senior year. The AJC recognized him as Region 8AAAAA
Men Doubles Team of the Year. Jonathan shares his love of tennis by running a small business giving tennis
lessons to beginning players. He is also an active member of 12 Stone Church in Lawrenceville,
serving as a Student Leader. He has participated in mission trips to Philadelphia, New Orleans (Katrina Relief) and Guatemala. Jonathan will be attending Berry College this fall and will be a member of the Berry Vikings Men Tennis Team. Cumming Post 307 is proud and honored to have recommended this fine outstanding young man for this scholarship.
